New Captains - All Free!
These new Mythbound Captains are available to everyone with the release of Mythbound. Each comes with a full deck, so you can experience the new cards and mechanics right away.
Deckbuilder 2.0 - Complete Overhaul
We have our new deckbuilder! This is the first step in some updated UI features aimed at improving user experience. The new deckbuilder includes:
- Search functionality
- Filters
- Clear deck button
Card Changes
For the most part, we plan to monitor the balance post-Mythbound before we make too many changes. That said, there were a couple outliers that we wanted to address with the release of Mythbound.
Barrel of Monkeys
Barrel has been a fun and powerful card for quite some time in Galaxy. Summoning multiple cards on Farewell always comes with some dangerous ground for balancing in Galaxy as it causes more full heart damage and can build boardstates that feel tough to fight through. With the introduction of cards that summon from your deck, Barrel of Monkeys quickly identified itself in testing as being a touch too much. We are reducing the total monkeys it summons down to 3 so that it won’t be as overbearing.
Ghost Armor
One of the favorite plays for Once Upon a Galaxy players is to find ways to find early Secret Rares. Some have amazing powerful effects. Ghost Armor’s low base stats often left it in an awkward spot where it more often than not felt like a let down. We are giving it’s base stats a boost which should help it be more fun and exciting to floop into.
Pixie Dust - Being Made Inactive
This is a big one. Pixie Dust’s combo with Wyrmscale Tinkerer has been a staple of top competitive play for a long time now. The exponential scaling provides insane numbers and a fun combo finish for many archetypes. With the release of Mythbound, we wanted to give other finishers a chance to shine and as such, Pixie Dust will be made inactive for now.
Reminder, cards that are made inactive are not gone for good and often rotate back into the game eventually. The latest example of this is Sorcerers Mop which rotated out in October 2025 and came back in March 2026.
Quality of Life Changes
There are lots of small quality of life and bug fixes coming with Mythbound but here are a few:
- Updated treasure-stacking (this should help Draupnir and Constellation Prize not delete treasures as often)
- Captain cosmetic switcher updated: toggle frames and banners in addition to costumes (alt-arts)
How Diamonds are Made
With the release of Mythbound, we are changing the way you acquire Diamond Captain frames. Moving forward, after you unlock 50 cards (regardless of set), you will unlock a Captain’s Diamond frame.
