Galactic Deals and Balance Updates

Summer’s here, and we’re cooking something special on the grill!

This patch is packed full of awesome updates to the Galaxy store, introducing Galactic Deals and priority for newly-purchased captains. We’re also balancing our Galaxy diet with updates to a bunch of captains and other cards!

Galactic Deals

Galactic Deals are coming to Galaxy’s store! These limited-time deals rotate every few days to spotlight new content, offer discounts on costumes and other items, and more. Our new premium captain schedule (2nd, 3rd, and 4th Monday each month) will offer a 100-gem discount for the first few days of each captain’s release!

The current Galactic Deal will be featured with a button on the homepage, so you won’t miss out when a deal you’ve been waiting for goes live. This is just the start, keep an eye out for more and varied Galactic Deals in the near future!

Priority Captains

Whenever you buy a new captain or theme deck, including the Galaxy Pass and bundles, that captain will now be queued to appear as an captain select option in an upcoming game*. This quality-of-life change should make a big impact. It was always a bit of a let-down whenever a newly-bought captain wouldn’t appear in random captain selects, and this new feature addresses that issue.

Note that priority captain queues only apply to the standard-mode games, and do not affect live friend lobbies or special events like the Galaxy Monthlies. If you buy a captain and then play games in other modes, the queued select option should still be available for your next standard game.

*It may not always appear in your immediate next game, but should always appear within a couple games after purchasing.

Balance Changes

Chief Evil Officer & King Arthur

Chief Evil Officer now gives +2/+1 to Villains (was +1/+1). King Arthur now gives +2/+1 to Heroes (was +1/+1).

CEO and Aurther’s bonus-doubling ability was buffed last February, which almost got them where we wanted. However, most players still tend to skip over this pair of captains despite them performing well enough in our stats. A small boost to their immediate bonuses should make captain selection more interesting when they appear.

Dr. Agon

Dr. Agon now gives discovers treasures (was random).

Dr. Agon’s time in the lab has paid off! Instead of mixing random magical reagents just to see what happens, your experiments now take a more intentional approach.

Indiana Clones

Indiana Clones now clones treasures on turn 9 (was turn 10).

Agon isn’t the only professional honing their craft. Indiana Clones’ adventurous instincts now give your treasures a turn earlier… just find your best clon-able treasures before the new deadline!

Dotty Dawdles

Dotty Dawdles now doubles buffs from spells to Animals and Mages (was only Mages).

Our favorite penguin magician is expanding her repertoire! Dotty’s ability now affects Animals too, an act she couldn’t pull off previously without assistance from a Prized Pig in the audience.

Merrily

Merrily now improves her buff when you cast a spell or recruit a Mage (was only when casting spells).

Merrily now triggers whenever you recruit a Mage in addition to casting spells. Build her buffs earlier and more often to help your game plan roll along, roll along.

Hecate’s Spellbook

Hecate's Spellbook is now a 3/3 (was a 3/1).

A buff to Hecate’s Spellbook should help its eponymous captain better navigate the first few turns, giving you more time to take advantage of the moon-godess’ spells.

Baba Yaga

Baba Yaga now turns Quest characters into Pie treasures, instead of the characters disappearing when 'eaten'.

After tasting samples everywhere, Baba Yaga is no longer satisfied with just raw ingredients. Her refined palette is a bonus to you - take advantage of the Pipin’ Hot Pies cooling on her windowsill!

Toucan Samuel

Toucan Samuel's ability now starts on turn 4 (was turn 3).

Toucan Samuel has quietly overperformed for a while now, and needs a small speed bump. Delaying Samuel’s bonus by one turn should bring it more in-line with the other captains.

Anagolay

Where did she put that…? Hmm…Anagolay is finding it harder to keep track of things lately. Anagolay has been a highly-picked and high-performing captain since her Mythbound debut, so a few extra lost treasures or few should make her less of an auto-pick in captain select.

Calypso

Calypo's effect now gives +2/+2 (was +2/+1).

Calypso’s small buff should make her a more interesting deck-building tool for Mage and Pirate (and Mage-Pirate) strategies.

The Chain of Camaraderie

The Chain of Camaraderie's effect now gives +50/+50 (was +40/+40).

The Chain is getting a boost to bring its power-level more in line with its Legendary status.

Constellation Prize

Constellation Prize's effect now gives +1/+1 (was +2/+2).

Miseria has been a popular staple in decks for a long while, and finding her Constellation Prize has been more constant than ever since Mythbound introduced Destiny to summon her. This nerf lessens the Prize’s immediate board-impact, while still working great with treasure buffs.

Eros

Eros' prophecy now requires 800 damage (was 600 damage).

Eros has become an ubiquitous finisher, thanks to Ares’ stat-doubling ability. While that effect is as powerful as ever, a bump to the prophecy’s requirements should slow down its arrival.
