Balance Patch - May 11, 2026
The gods have delivered their first decree.
This Mythbound balance patch focuses heavily on improving Boons and their enablers, with a wide range of changes aimed at creating more exciting strategies, smoother gameplay, and even more fun from the Underworld. Let’s dive in.
Card Reworks
Medea in a Tavern
Our first card rework this patch is Medea in a Tavern. Medea helped form the center of near infinite loops that we are working to address this patch. This change to Medea removes the ability to loop spell based boons but makes it easier to get a boon each turn which we think will let Medea continue to be fun in the decks that want her while being more in line with where we’d like her balance to be.
Boon of Fortunes
Boon of Fortunes hit an awkward space of being too easy to complete while also providing a very powerful reward. It also expressly hits hard on the strain large numbers of shops in a turn can place on the overall fast and fun gameplay we desire to create with Galaxy. In this instance, we’ve decided to rework Boon of Fortunes to be more in line with the character for whom this Boon is named from.
The Raven
Our last card rework for this patch is also geared towards limiting long combo turns with Boons. Our goals for this change is to keep The Raven as a strong early enabler for decks that want Boons while not being infinitely repeatable.
Balance Changes
Elec-drake
As we’ve developed new Captains, we like to revisit older captains and give them slight bumps to keep them interesting and powerful. We’ve decided to give Elect-drake’s attack buff on treasures a slight bump to help him carve out a more unique role in games.
Nemesis - Anoint & Decree
Nemesis has quickly become a favorite new captain for many following her release with Mythbound. However, after careful monitoring and discussion, we are scaling back two of her spells. Anoint in particular allowed characters like Peachy Queen, Pan, Pan’s Shadow, Rose and Thorn can take this additional buff and quickly snowball a game faster and more consistently than we would like. Likewise, because Nemesis’s buffs are spells, Decree’s buff when copied was allowing the 2nd Nemesis spell to be larger on average than we were hoping for. Both of these reductions should let Nemesis remain fun and powerful but not as deterministic or as quick.
Frankenstein’s Doctor
A few months back we buffed Guardian of the Grove. In doing so, we acknowledged that Frankenstein’s Doctor and Kraken would likely need buffs in the near future. That day is here.
The Kraken
Our kraken's arms have gotten a little bit longer. We like the uniqueness of its ability but it should be a more imposing character when first discovered now.
Boon of Artemis & Boon of Set
We are changing both of these Boons to check at the beginning of the fight rather than constantly. This change in timing is part of a bigger attempt to reduce Boons being collected and completed immediately so they can be collected again in the same turn.
Boon of Zheng
Boon of Zheng was often difficult to complete if you discovered it beyond the first handful of turns. We hope this change will make it more enticing and feasible to pivot strategies to Pirates during the middle of runs as well as help more Pirate-centric builds and captains (who may get their own series of buffs and change down the road).
Destiny
Destiny’s stat line was considerable above rate for how powerful her effect is. We are bringing it more in line with other summoners at her rarity.
Tantalus
Tantalus has been in an awkward spot. Our initial goal was to provide a powerful buff for runs where you had uncompleted Boons. However in practice, it was difficult to commit to having Tantalus on board without any Boons. We’ve decided to split his buff so he’ll always give you something but you now get a little more overall for the first boon you’ve left uncompleted. We hope this makes him more tempting to take and keep on your board.
Young Hercules
There was some awkward timings related to getting boons and Young Herc doubling his stats. We decided to change this timing to when you complete boons. This will notably make it harder to trigger so we have upped his base stats so he’s a more worthwhile body when taken before you have a boon you can complete.
Yggdrasil Sapling
Of the new Mythbound cards, Yggdrasil Sapling has not performed like we’d hope. We are increasing his stats and his buff with the hopes that he’ll branch out into more decks.
Limit Breaker

(You have reached the shop limit.)
We have been monitoring the results and feedback regarding the new Limit Breaker since we implemented it a few weeks ago and have already decided to make some changes.
- Limit increased to 30
- Won’t block Treasure and Captain shops
Our overall goals with this mechanic is that it appears rarely and that it should allow you to still resolve one off completed goals like Quests, Golden Characters etc., but still bring long silver and spell chained shops to a conclusion so games can continue to progress to conclusions.
Additionally, we have fixed a lot of bugs regarding when and how Limit Breaker was appearing or not. We plan to continue to monitor and refine as we see how these changes perform.
Bug Fixes & Polish:
Our team of skilled engineers has been hard at work fixing the new bugs and oddities that come from a new set. Here is a list of some of the more noteworthy things they have resolved for this patch:
- Randomly generated treasures will now respect the treasures banned on your Captain. (i.e. Oracle of Fortunes will no longer generate Alchemistry Set when you are playing King Midas)
- Roulette’s countdown timer will now accurately match how many turns remain til she transforms your board.
- Boon of the Pauper will now highlight commons in the shop while you have it.
- There is a new countdown icon for Prophecy characters to better differentiate them from Questers
- Gingerbread House will hopefully stop appearing in front of the Collection screen (for real this time… we hope)
Until next time
New sets always let us push the boundaries and then let us self correct as needed. How do you think we did? Come let us know your patch note feedback in the Community Discord.
Til next time,
See you in the stars…
